A mass of tropical air is headed for southwestern Ontario, bringing temperatures in the low 30s C for the next several days.
Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips believes this heat wave is being welcomed, especially by farmers, as it has been an unusually wet and cool spring.
"The corn, the tomatoes and the grapes, all of that will come on a little bit," he describes. "I think people will feel that, 'My gosh, this is summer. It wasn't going to be cancelled this year.'"
Even though the season doesn't officially arrive for 13 days, Phillips says this heat wave will rival the dog days of summer.
He adds that there isn't expected to be a lot of precipitation to break up the hot and sunny days either.
On Monday, Environment Canada is forecasting high temperatures of 33 C in Windsor and Chatham, and 32 C in London. Phillips says these temperatures could be record breaking for June 12.
