A Chatham UFC fighter is very excited about getting a big shot to boost his career.
Chad Laprise will be fighting in a UFC 213 bout July 8 in Las Vegas.
It's his first welterweight fight at 170 pounds and his opponent is Brian Camozzi.
Laprise replaces a fighter who is injured and he couldn't be anymore excited about the opportunity.
"I called the UFC and told head match maker Sean Shelby that I'm ready and willing to step into his spot and that's how it worked. Now I'm fighting in one of the biggest cards of the year in International Fight Week in Las Vegas," says Laprise.
Laprise got hurt in August and has been training to get a shot ever since.
Laprise says he feels good and is itching to fight again.
"Ready to go. I've been training hard. It's going to be a shorter camp than usual. Usually I'd like an eight or nine week camp but I've got four weeks and that'll be plenty of time. I'm already in shape so it's just time to go," Laprise says.
Laprise says it's a tremendous opportunity to further his fighting career.
"Skills take a life time to build up but conditioning doesn't take near as long. So, it's just about filling up the gas tank and I'll be ready to go. It's one of the biggest cards of the year and one of the biggest opportunities of my career and I'm going to go out there and make the most of it," says Laprise.
