Chatham-Kent police say a 24-year-old Ridgetown woman is in a London hospital with serious injuries after a crash south of Merlin over the weekend.
Officers say the car she was driving crashed into a telephone box and then a tree in someone's front lawn on Talbot Trail at around 4pm Saturday.
Firefighters had to cut the doors off of the vehicle to get everyone out safely.
The driver was rushed to the hospital in Chatham with life threatening head injuries and was airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London shortly after that. By Sunday morning, her condition had improved to serious, but stable.
The woman's son, who was riding in the back seat, also received medical treatment and was later released from the hospital.
A man who was riding in front passenger seat suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police were able to speak with the woman on Sunday and say she will continue to receive treatment in London.
There is no word on whether charges will be laid in connection with the crash.
