There are several family-friendly activities going on across Chatham-Kent during the Canada Day long weekend. However, there are some closures residents may want to note.
The Bothwell Arena will be open on Canada Day to host some activities. The Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will also be open for free open swims from 1:30pm-4pm.
For those looking to get around Chatham-Kent, CK transit will not be operational on Saturday but the Seasonal Transit Route will be running.
Garbage and recycling pick-up will not be affected by the holiday.
The Harwich Transfer Station, Wallaceburg Transfer Station and Chatham Leaf & Yard Depot will be closed on Monday, but all other transfer stations will be open regular hours.
Several municipal buildings will be closed on July 3, including the Health and Family Services, Employment, and Housing Services. Entegrus and Public Utilities Commission will be closed, but emergencies can be called in at 519-352-6300.
The Provincial Offences Court will be closed on Monday. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, but there will be no court on July 4 and July 5 during the Judicial Conference Week.
Several services at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will also be affected by the holiday.
Routine x-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available on Monday, nor will out-patient services.
The Chatham-Kent Mental Health and Addictions department, The Oncology/Chemotherapy Department, and Elston Pharmacy will also be closed on Monday.
As usual, the emergency departments at both of the CKHA's locations will be open at all hours. Emergency services with the municipality will also be available if needed.
