'Outdoor Movies In The Park' Returns To CK

The joy of watching movies and being outdoors is coming together with "Outdoor Movies in the Park."

Free family movies will be showing at certain parks throughout Chatham-Kent this summer.

Rachel Pray, coordinator of recreation services for the municipality, says movies start at dusk, but families are encouraged to come out earlier and take part in activities.

"It's more of a come and play before the movie," she says. "It's an opportunity for you to come out with your family and enjoy some outdoor recreation."

Pray says "Outdoor Movies in the Park" has proven to be a success within the community, with hundreds of people showing up.

"At Kingston Park [in Chatham] we've seen upwards of 400 people come out so it's a pretty busy night," she says. "Our rural communities are usually more around a hundred people. Feel free to bring your blanket, your lawn chair, some snacks, and of course some bug spray."

Movies will be shown on a 20 ft inflatable screen. The screenings do depend on how the weather is.

Movie Schedule:

July 7 - Chatham Kingston Park - Lego Batman Movie
