The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is inviting the public to get a better idea of what the organization does in the community.
This comes after their recent fundraising accomplishment, in which the hospice raised $850,000 for the 2016-2017 year.
In order to give people a better understanding of where the money raised is going, they're hosting an open house at the Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham Wednesday evening.
"We hope that donors will drop in and see the huge impacts that their gifts have made to our community," says Jodi Maroney, executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. "We've never had a hospice in our community before so it's great opportunity to come in and learn more."
Moroney says the money raised goes towards things like hydro, food, and training.
"[Since] we get the level of donations we get, we're able to offer our services at no cost to our residents and their families," she says.
Denise Dodman, interim executive director, says they've been very successful in their first year of operation so now they're looking ahead to future years.
The open house will be held at the Active Lifestyle Centre in Chatham, from 4pm-7pm.
