One Man Busking Show Held in Downtown CK

A local business owner is hosting busking performances every weekend of the summer in Downtown Chatham.

Clair Culliford is the owner of The Veranda, a business planning service in Chatham, and has recently begun organizing The Thames River Revue.

The show is held in front of the Downtown Chatham Centre and incorporates a variety of drama performances and plays, as well as juggling and games.

Culliford challenges himself by taking on many different characters in this one man show.

"I studied [drama] a bit and I'm a failed actor. I had some talent, but absolutely no good memory for lines. I like doing bunches of short things, rather than one long play-- much, much easier," explains Culliford.

He says he even has a few new performances up his sleeves.

"I'm working on a short play called 'Tecumseh in Chatham' about the war of 1812. A very brief play with audience participation, getting the history of Tecumseh briefly, then how he got to Chatham," says Culliford.

Culliford says his revue is free to attend, though busking tips are appreciated. You can see him perform on Fridays from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday and Sundays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The show runs until September 24.
