Cyclist Involved In Serious Crash In Wallaceburg

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man is in a Windsor hospital with life threatening injuries after a crash that took place in Chatham-Kent late last month.

Police say the man was on a bicycle when he crashed into a car that was going through the intersection of Duncan St. and Wall St. in Wallaceburg just before 7pm on Saturday, July 29.

According to the police report, a witness told officers that a red car had stopped at the intersection, which is a four-way stop, and began proceeding safely through it when a cyclist came into the intersection and hit the vehicle.

The 33-year-old man on the bicycle was initially taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for treatment, but he was later transferred to Windsor's Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital after a CT scan showed that the man was suffering from serious head injuries.

Police say the investigation is considered "complete" and charges will not be laid.
