Bikefest CK Descends On Downtown Chatham

A fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters Chatham-Kent is expanding.

Bikefest CK kicks off Friday night in Tecumseh Park, and organizer Toni Martin says the timing just made sense.

"People really enjoy coming out and listening to some good music, and just celebrating. There's a lot of groups that come, and this just gives them another opportunity to meet as a group and have an extra day to celebrate and just go for a nice ride," says Martin.

The event includes live music and a pig roast, but there are a number of events planned for Saturday, which kicks off with an escorted ride.

"They start out at 10am from Blenheim heading into Chatham," says Martin. "We also have the Motorcycle Showcase, which is taking place down on King St. in front of the mall. That's anyone who wants to show off their bikes. Then the motorcycle ride will be coming in, and I'm hoping for 200 motorcycles."

Big Brother Big Sisters Chatham-Kent will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The draw will be on Saturday.

"All the money that's made from this event does stay local," says Martin. "It does help to keep all the children's programs running, and to be able to maintain those programs."

Last year over 8,000 people attend Bikefest CK in Tecumseh Park, which will also feature vendors and a beer garden. For more information on the event, CLICK HERE.
