Baby Powder Poured Into Woman's Mouth

A Blenheim man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman and pouring baby powder into her mouth.

Police say on Monday at around 1am, the man and a woman he has been in a relationship with were inside their residence in Blenheim when they began to argue.

According to police, the argument escalated and the man started striking the woman up and down her body. When she began to cry, the man allegedly poured baby powder into her mouth in an attempt to quiet her.

Later that same day around 3pm inside their residence, the man reportedly pushed the woman.

Police say the woman left the residence and called police. When an officer arrived, she told him what had happened that day. According to police, the officer noticed a bump on her head and bruises on her body. Police say she also disclosed other domestic-related incidents that occurred throughout the summer months.

As a result of the investigation, the 24-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

- Eight counts of assault - Five counts of assault with a weapon - Assault causing bodily harm - Forcible confinement - Mischief under $5,000

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
