The Ontario Provincial Police have released a list of all the charges they laid against drivers over the Labour Day Weekend, and it is long.
The OPP had a substantial presence on provincial highways and county roads across the province, and the list only covers charges laid in the West Region, which includes Essex County, Kent County, Lambton County, and Middlesex County.
Most of the charges were for speeding. Out of 240 charges in all, 154 were for driving over the speed limit. The next most common charge was for Highway Traffic Act violations. There were 11 hazardous moving violations and ten marine offences.
Other charges included three offences of stunt driving, five under the Liquor Licence Act, nine related to insurance, and eight for distracted driving.
Police also laid two seatbelt charges, one drug charge, and four suspensions for testing in the warning range for drunk driving.
There were no impaired driving charges were laid in Essex County.
