Baseball Bat Assault In Chatham

Chatham-Kent police have one person in custody and they're looking for a second suspect after someone was beat up with a baseball bat in Chatham.

Police say their investigation started when they got a call about a disturbance on Lorne Ave. shortly after 10pm Thursday night.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned a man had been assaulted with a bat by two men who know him.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old Chatham man has since been arrested in connection with the assault and is now charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with his curfew.

Officers are also working to track down a second suspect.
