Household Hazardous Waste Day In CK

If you have some hazardous waste sitting around at your house or your apartment, now is the time to get rid of it safely.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is hosting three drop-off locations for its Household Hazardous Waste Day from 8am to 3pm Saturday, September 16.

The Blenheim Public Works Yard at 386 Chatham St. S., the Chatham Public Works Garage at 25 Creek Rd., and the Chatham Township Public Works Garage at 10137 Greenvalley Line will all be accepting several hazardous waste materials including: pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, pesticides, rat poison, pharmaceuticals, gasoline, paints, oils, batteries/acids, and oven cleaners.

You can find a full list of acceptable materials by clicking here.

All of the materials that are being dropped off need to be clearly labelled, in sealed containers no larger than 20 litres -- and the containers will not be returned after they are dropped off.

The maximum amount of waste material that will be accepted is 50L.
