A local robotics club for high school students is hosting an open house this week to find some new members.
CK Cyber Pack is a First Robotics team that's open to all high schools in Chatham-Kent. The team currently has about 40 members and is supported by many parents and mentors in the community.
An open house is being held at the Chatham campus of St. Clair College on Wednesday, beginning at 6:30pm. Pizza and refreshments will be provided to students and parents.
"We're looking for new members in areas of programming, graphic design, social media, fundraising, building, and electrical. You don't have to know everything, we have mentors there that will show you what to do and student leads that are more than willing to help," explains team member Jared Lawton.
Lawton is a Grade 13 student and has been a part of the team for the past three years. He says the experience looks great to employers.
"Say you want to get into graphic design or building or something, it looks good on a resume. It [also] provides good hands-on experience," says Lawton.
Lawton says a robotic project has yet to be determined for the upcoming season. According to Lawton, CK Cyber Pack ranked 15th at last year's First Robotics competition out of 43 teams.
