Maroons Outplay Stars 6-3

Despite a slow start, the Chatham Maroons were able to double the St. Thomas Stars 6-3 on Friday.

The Stars kicked off the game with the only goal of the first period to take a 1-0 heading into the second.

St. Thomas extended their lead to 2-0 eight minutes into the second frame, but the Maroons surged in the second half of the period.  Noah Bushnell, Eric Carter and Josh Supryka scored back-to-back goals to give Chatham a 3-2 advantage as the game entered the third.

Bryce Yetman added another goal for the Maroons 12:24 into the final period, followed by Grant Spence who scored to make it 5-2 for Chatham.  The Stars scored their third goal with just over five minutes left in the game, but Bushnell scored his second of the night late in the frame, for Chatham's final unanswered goal of the night.

"It was good hard road game and we got the win, and that's all that really matters," says Supryka, who played his first game with the Maroons Friday night. "We played hard as a team and our second and third were really strong."

Maroons goaltender Ryan Wagner made 21 saves out of 24 shots on net.

The Maroons head back home on Sunday to take on the St. Marys Lincolns at 7pm.
