Pets Caught In Chatham House Fire

While a litter of kittens was rescued from a Chatham house fire, a number of other pets weren't so lucky.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services says late Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from two stations responded to the blaze on Princess St. S.  The fire was quickly extinguished but an unknown number of pets were found dead upstairs.

Fire crews were able to rescue an adult cat and a litter of kittens and resuscitate them outside.

The tenants of the homes two apartments were out of the house when fire crews arrived and no injuries have been reported.

The fire is believed to have started in the upstairs apartment, but the cause is still being investigated. A damage estimate is also unknown at this time.
