Chatham Restaurant Robbed At Gun Point

A man is in custody after allegedly robbing a Chatham restaurant while armed with a gun.

Police say on Saturday at around 11pm, a man went into Subway on Queen St. in Chatham.

According to police, the man approached the counter and demanded money while waving a firearm around.

It is reported that the employee turned over cash and the man ran away.

Police say the employee was not injured.

Chatham-Kent police's K9 unit was called to the area and Arry the dog was able to find the suspect on Lacroix St.

The 57-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery using a firearm, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
