If you have some old or expired prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet, it's time to clean those out.
Chatham-Kent police are holding their annual “Prescription Drug Drop Off Day” on Saturday, May 5 from 10am to 2pm at three locations across Chatham-Kent.
You can drop off your old and unused drugs at Shopper’s Drug Mart on McNaughton Ave. in Wallaceburg, the Chatham-Kent Courthouse on Grand Ave. W in Chatham, and the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Mill St. in Tilbury.
Once the medications are collected, police will dispose of them properly.
In 2017, police collected about 1,200 narcotic pills and dozens of kilograms of non-narcotic medications.
Police say they also collected two Opioid patches, some liquid Hydrocodone, and some liquid Codeine during last year's event.
A ‘Shred It’ service will also be at the Courthouse Saturday.
They'll be accepting papers, books, DVDs, CDs, etc. for a fee of $10 per bankers box. All of the proceeds will go to Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers.
