Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are taking over the shooting investigation in Dresden.
Chatham-Kent police say at this point, detectives are working to identify the shooter as well a possible motive.
A 58-year-old Wallaceburg man was shot at the Dresden Raceway Saturday night. He was released from a London hospital earlier this week after having surgery.
Although police don't believe the shooting was accidental, they say there are no immediate public safety concerns.
Police are still looking for any helpful information related to the investigation. Anyone with tips is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
