Thamesville Woman 'In A Pickle' After Home Burns Down

A Thamesville woman needs help finding a new country home to rent after hers burned down last week.

Sue, who didn't want her last name published, says her family was halfway finished moving into their new home on Florence Rd. near Fairfield Line in Thamesville, when it went up in flames on May 2.

Sue along with her 82-year-old mother, her ill son and a bunch of rescue animals face eviction from their old residence this coming week and will have no place to live.

"We are in a pickle and we have lost our money [by] footing first and last and paying the rent while I started moving things in and everything that I bought for the house," she says.

Chatham-Kent fire officials say they aren’t sure what sparked the blaze and ruled it accidental.

Sue says she lost some sentimental and valuable items in the fire but her focus now is to get her family settled in a new and affordable place.

"[Getting] a home and a decent roof over our heads again and room for everyone -- that's my main goal right now," she says.
