Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges

A pair of Chatham men were caught with drugs during a traffic stop.

Police pulled over a vehicle on Sandys St. Monday night and seized $1,500 worth of marijuana and hash oil, along with some cash and drugs paraphernalia.

A 19-year-old and a 22-year-old were both arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Domestic Incident in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man has been charged following a domestic incident.

Officers were called to a home on Sunday where a woman reported that she was assaulted and threatened by her common-law husband.

She also alleged that she had been the victim of domestic abuse over the past year.

A 39-year-old man was arrested Monday morning and charged with domestic-related offences dating back to 2017.

Domestic Incident Leads To Two Arrests

Officers were also called to another domestic incident in Chatham over the long weekend.

Police can an argument escalated in Chatham Monday night, and a man assaulted a woman.

As a 23-year-old man was placed under arrest for assault, the woman allegedly tried to block and push the officers away.

A 26-year-old woman is now charged with obstructing police.

Break & Enter Suspect Arrested

A 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested for breaching his curfew after police spotted him walking along the tracks in the area of Merritt Ave. early this morning.

Officers say he and another man were carrying headphones, battery pack, and cell phone chargers.

An investigation showed that the items had been stolen from a business on Richmond St.

The first suspect was charged with break and enter, and police are still searching for the second suspect, who has been identified.

Speeder Caught on Hwy. 401

Chatham-Kent OPP had charged a 33-year-old Scarborough man after he was caught speeding on Hwy. 401.

The suspect was caught on RADAR going over the posted speed limit of 100 km/h near Bloomfield Rd. early Sunday morning.

After pulling over the vehicle, officers learned the driver was also suspended from driving.
