Book Closes On Civil Suit Against Jakubec

The litigation matter between Councillor Jeff Wesley and local advocate Kevin Jakubec has been resolved.

Cole Vegso with Siskinds Law Firm sent a press release Friday on behalf of Jakubec, which included a public apology.

"Previously I, Kevin Jakubec, made public comments that suggested Mr. Wesley was a liar. It is not true that Mr. Wesley is a liar," says the statement. "I apologize."

The statement goes on to say that Councillor Wesley and Jakubec have come to an agreement regarding the damages assessed a judge's decision on July 27, 2017 and that both sides "consider the matter resolved."

Wesley won $25,000 in 2017 in a civil lawsuit for defamatory comments made by Jakubec to a media outlet. Wesley confirmed to Blackburn News that the matter had indeed been resolved.

However, neither Wesley or Jakubec will comment further.
