Free Social Media Seminar Coming To Chatham

If you're a business owner in Chatham-Kent, it's time to brush up on your social media skills.

The Chatham-Kent Small Business Centre and 519 Events & Promotions have teamed up to offer local businesses a free Social Media for Small Businesses Seminar on Thursday, June 28. The seminar is open to all businesses, both large and small, and will be hosted at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre starting at 6:30pm.

According to the municipality, the event will feature an introduction to social media tools geared to help people who are just starting to use social media from a business perspective.

Whether a business already has a Facebook page, Twitter profile, or is just starting to explore communicating with social media audiences, the seminar will provide them with the knowledge to increase their online presence.

“Many new businesses, and even some seasoned businesses, have approached us for help with understanding how to use social media to better reach their customers,” says Glen Norton, a small business consultant with the Chatham-Kent Economic Development Small Business Centre. “Some have experience with social media for personal use, but bringing into a business environment requires a different set of skills, and this seminar will help them towards gaining those skills.”

Business owners will also learn how data from the tools will allow them to figure out their return on investment.

“We have people asking us all the time about how often they should be posting online, what they need to post, and how to ensure their message is reaching their audience,” says 519 Events & Promotions Owner Moréna McDonald. “This seminar will give us an opportunity to have a constructive conversation about some of the burning questions that businesses are asking, and also show them how to start building a successful strategy.”

To register you can e-mail cksbc@chatham-kent.ca or call Glen Norton at 519-351-7700.
