Police Chase In Chatham Ends In Charges

A 30-year-old woman is facing a number of charges and officers are still looking for a second suspect after police chased a vehicle through a Chatham neighbourhood.

Police say it started after an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle at around 11:30pm Thursday in the area of Clover Pl. and Monarch Dr. in Chatham.

Investigators say the officer who approached the vehicle recognized the passenger as someone who was currently wanted by police, told him he was under arrest, and asked him to exit the vehicle. At that time, the man allegedly got out of the vehicle and took off running while the driver of the vehicle also pulled away, almost hitting the officer who was at the scene.

Police allege the woman behind the wheel kept driving through the residential area at a "high rate of speed" until she eventually stopped at the intersection of Donalda Dr. and Vanier Dr.

A 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and is now charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, facilitating a breach, failing to stop for police, and flight while being pursued. She has been released with conditions and a future court date.

Police are still trying to track down a 31-year-old Chatham man in connection with the investigation.
