The Arizona Senator was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in July 2017. Soon after, he left Washington D.C. for this home state returning just once, to vote against his party's plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. The repeal failed.
My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!

McCain's military career started in 1958 when he graduated from the United States Naval Academy.
He was captured by the enemy in 1967 during the Vietnam War after his plane was shot down over Hanoi. He was a prisoner of war until 1973, enduring torture. The wounds he suffered during his incarceration left him with life-long disabilities.
His political career began in 1981 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and to the U.S. Senate in 1987. McCain made two failed bids for the presidency.
Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau issued condolences on Canada's behalf.
