Chatham traffic stop turns up cocaine, crack, meth

What started out as a routine traffic stop on Grant Street in Chatham, ended with police arresting an alleged drug dealer.

Chatham-Kent police said they found methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, two flick knives and quantity of cash after pulling over a vehicle Sunday night because it didn't have the proper licence plates on it.

When officers checked the driver, they found that while she didn't have a proper driver's licence, she did have several different drugs and a pair of illegal knives on her.

Police said the drugs they seized have a combined value of $5,380.

A 56-year-old Chatham woman is now facing several charges including drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
