Ford has issued a recall on over 400,000 F-150s in Canada because the block heaters' power cable could cause a fire.
The company announced the recall specifically for F-150s in the 2015-2019 model years along with 2017-2019 model Super Duty vehicles equipped with engine block heaters.
Ford said a total of 874,000 vehicles are affected in North America, with 463,793 in Canada.
In a release, the company said there is only a risk of fire when the truck is parked and the block heater is plugged in. The problem is that water and debris get into the heaters cable, corroding it over time. Eventually, the damage can cause a short and trip breakers while it is plugged in.
Owners of affected vehicles are advised to bring their trucks into a dealership for inspection and to have the cable repaired or replaced.
