Chatham Maroons beat Strathroy Rockets

The Chatham Maroons are starting off the holiday season with a win after beating the Strathroy Rockets 4-1.

The Maroons played the Rockets at West Middlesex Memorial Arena Saturday night. Griffin Robinson scored the first goal of the night for Chatham.

Eddie Schulz went on to score two more goals for the Maroons in both the first and second periods of the game. Strathroy's Emmet Pierce scored the first and only goal for the Rockets in the second period. Finally, Maddux Rychel gave the Maroons more of a lead, after he scored the fourth goal of the night in the third period.

The Chatham Maroons currently sit in third place in the western conference of the GOJHL standings. However, they are only one point behind second-place Leamington. The London National sit atop of the standings.

The Chatham Maroons are back on the ice January 2, 2019 to play the first-place Nationals. The Rockets will also play early in the new year, they're scheduled to play the Stars in St. Thomas January 4, 2019.

The Toronto Blue Jays lost 7-6 in 10 innings to Tampa Bay. The Kitchener Rangers are OHL champions.
