The Windsor Essex Foodbank Association and Chatham Outreach for Hunger will get $66,075 to share among 16 area food banks.
The money was raised by the 2018 Sleighin' Hunger charity concert, which has collected its largest total yet. Over the past five years, the show has raised $266,000 for families and individuals in need.
Friday's concert was held at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor.
The donation will allow the local association to buy 20,150 lbs of ground beef, which can be difficult for food banks to come by. It figures it will be able to feed 160,800 people with the donation.
"We are able to reach so many families in need of food assistance because of the generosity of the community and from incredible donations like the one we've just received," said June Muir, CEO of the Unemployed Help Centre, and president of the Windsor Essex Foodbank Association.
Member food banks in the Windsor area include the Downtown Mission, Drouillard Place, The Welcome Centre, and three Salvation Army locations.
The Chatham Outreach for Hunger served over 3,800 households and 326 families in 2017.
