Grey Bruce Farmers' Week is marking it's 53rd year

What's become a new year's tradition is underway in Elmwood.

Grey Bruce Farmers' Week is marking it's 53rd year.

Speakers, panel discussions, presentations and a trade show are all part of the events taking place at the Elmwood Community Centre.

Each of the seven days is devoted to a specific commodity. Farmer's Week is put on by Grey County Agricultural Services.

Organizer Lorie Smith said the goal is to ensure farmers learn what they need to know and come away with practical information.

"So it's an education. It's in order to ensure that producers are on top of the leading edge of technology. It's a good opportunity also to meet with trade show exhibitors and agra business and to meet up with their fellow farmers that maybe they haven't seen in a while," said Smith.

Grey Bruce Farmers's Week runs every day through to next Wednesday at the Elmwood Community Centre.

The cost is $30 a day which includes lunch, payable at the door by cash or cheque.

It's also live streamed with a link at gbfw.ca or greybrucefarmersweek.ca. Again there is a cost to live-stream the event.
