Five arrests on Wanted Wednesday

A handful of alleged criminals who were wanted in Chatham-Kent have been arrested on outstanding warrants -- all within 24 hours of each other.

A 24-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for assault and failing to comply with her release conditions was picked up by police Wednesday morning. She was taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

A 26-year-old Ridgetown man who was wanted for robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon was also arrested Wednesday morning.

He's accused of approaching a 23-year-old man in Ridgetown early Tuesday morning, pushing him and stealing his bike and backpack. The accused was also allegedly carrying a hunting knife at the time.

Police said the victim and the accused also know each other through a mutual friend. Officers arrested a suspect in connection with the case Wednesday morning and took him the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

The third alleged criminal who Chatham-Kent police arrested Wednesday is a 41-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions -- he was picked up Wednesday afternoon and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The final two arrests were both made outside of the municipality.

Sarnia police arrested a 21-year-old man who was wanted on a surety relief warrant and Woodstock police arrested a 30-year-old woman who was wanted for causing a disturbance, drug possession, and failing to attend court.

Both of them were transported to Chatham-Kent for court purposes and were being held in custody pending bail hearings.
