Fire crews were busy overnight, working in slippery conditions to put out a barn fire on Front Line in Blenheim.
According to the Chatham-Kent Fire Department, the blaze broke out shortly after midnight on Sunday.
On their arrival, firefighters found the barn had collapsed and fully involved the fire. Crews focused on protecting nearby structure from the fire before extinguishing the remaining fire inside and around the collapsed barn.
Crews from the Ridgetown fire station assisted in putting out the flames. Philip Thorburn, Assistant Cheif for Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue, said that freshly fallen snow made for slippery conditions for the firefighters.
No injuries and no loss of cattle are being reported at this time. The cause is being reported as accidental with an estimated $50,000 caused in damage.
