A local school board is making things a lot easier on parents looking to register their kids in kindergarten. They will now be able to do all the paperwork online and on any device.
The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) made the announcement Monday morning. According to the school board, the new option will allow staff to spend more time welcoming families to schools and build positive relationships as parents spend less time filling out paperwork on registration day. While the official announcement was made Monday, the LKDSB said online registration was launched on January 14.
Families can either fill out the forms online before registration day or complete the registration on paper the day of. The LKDSB said several departments came together to review how to improve the registration process. The new option was planned and implemented to allow parents to register using a computer, tablet, or cellphone without needing to print anything.
Anyone looking to take advantage of the new option can visit the website which the LKDSB said is easy to remember and houses all the important information. The board added there are just four steps to follow. First parents find their school, then find the registration date, complete the registration form, and finally, meet the school staff.
Parents are reminded to bring their child's birth certificate or proof of Canadian Citizenship, proof of residency, and provide emergency contact information.
The LKDSB said the service was used by roughly 100 families with 24 hours of launching.
