CK police budget passes with unanimous support

The proposed 2019 Chatham-Kent police budget was approved unanimously by local council members.

The $32.3-million budget included an increase of 1.75 per cent, which Police Chief Gary Conn said was necessary to keep up with inflation.

"I know this budget is fiscally responsible," said Conn. "There are no requests for additional staff. More importantly, no service reductions."

The increase of just over $546,000 has an overall tax impact of 0.36%.
