Five people are facing charges after OPP responded to a stolen vehicle that broke down on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
Chatham-Kent OPP said an officer learned the vehicle was reported stolen after stopping to help out a motorist in the westbound lanes of the highway near Orford Road at around 11:30 a.m. last week Thursday.
Police said there were two vehicles stopped on the shoulder at the time -- one of them was reported stolen from London overnight and the other vehicle belonged to a Good Samaritan who had stopped to help them.
The vehicle that was reported stolen had a driver and four passengers inside, all of whom were arrested. Police said one of the passengers also allegedly had some illegal drugs on her.
An 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man from London are both facing charges in connection with the case along with a 22-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, and a 57-year-old man who all have no fixed address.
