The Chatham-Kent Police Service has received a new plaque in support of mental health.
On Tuesday Zack Rank, president of Thames Student Inc for St Clair College's Thames Campus, presented police with the Paul Hansell Foundation #ConvoPlate.
The purpose of the plate is to start a conversation about the importance of mental health initiatives. The #ConvoPlate is a hand painted stoneware plate that gets circulated around the community to get people talking about mental illness.
The plate the police received originated at Mohawk College in Hamilton and has been exchanged between people and organizations who champion for mental health awareness.
"The Chatham-Kent Police Service is committed to improving outcomes for those suffering from mental health issues and illnesses," police said in a press release. "We will continue to work with our community partners in an effort to break the stigma and encourage those who need help to access local mental health services. "
The police will announce the next recipient of the #ConvoPlate in May during Mental Health Week.
