Provincial police are advising motorists that a section of Hwy. 401 will be closed from Saturday night until Sunday morning.
Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway will be closed between Colonel Talbot Road and Iona Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday. The closure will allow crews to demolish the east half of the Union Road overpass.
"During this time traffic will be routed through Highway Three. The motoring public traveling west bound will go south to Highway Three on Col Talbot Road. The motoring public traveling east bound will go south to Highway Three on Iona Road," Elgin OPP said in a statement released Friday morning.
Police will be patrolling the detour route to ensure the safe travel of community members and motorist during the closure.
