Break and enter causes $25,000 in loss and damage

A break and enter is under investigation in Orford Township where a storage garage owner is reporting $25,000 in loss and damages.

According to police, sometime between October 2018 and May 2019, suspects forced open a door to gain entrance to the garage.

While inside, the culprits attempted to steal two vehicles but it is believed they were unable to start the engines, resulting in damage to both ignitions. Instead, they made off with the rims, tires and stereos from both vehicles. In addition, two 4-wheeled ATVs, a riding lawn mower and several hand tools were also stolen.

Chatham-Kent police said the matter is still being investigated.
