Police find fentanyl during arrest
A 35-year-old Chatham man is facing three charges after police allegedly found a powerful painkiller in his possession.
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after his surety brought him to police headquarters Monday morning because he was under the influence of drugs, which violates one of his previous release conditions.
Officers said when they searched the man, they also found some fentanyl on him.
The accused was charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply and was released with conditions and a future court date.

Hitting a parked car
A 28-year-old Chatham man is charged in connection with a hit and run where he allegedly hit a parked car and then took off on foot.
Police said the crash took place on Michener Road Monday night, adding officers were able to track down a suspect and charged him with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

They weren't supposed to talk to each other
A 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who were ordered to give each other the silent treatment are facing more charges now.
Officers said the man and the woman were released from custody on May 12 with a condition that they were not to communicate with each other.
They were arrested after police allegedly found them together at a residence in Chatham Monday morning.
Both of them were charged with failing to comply and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Local RIDE Program comes up empty
Chatham-Kent police said they checked 56 vehicles during a RIDE spot check on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg Monday night and didn't find any infractions.

Coffee with a cop
Chatham-Kent police will be on hand at the Tim Hortons in Tilbury from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday for another "Coffee with a cop" event.
