Flood warning issued for Erie Shore Drive, closed until further notice

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) has issued a flood warning for Erie Shore Drive.

The warning was issued around 2:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon. According to the LTVCA, Erie Shore Drive has suffered damage due to flooding and is closed until further notice. They add that flooding is still occurring and is expected to continue into the evening.

"Shoreline protections in the area have also suffered damage.  Sometime overnight or early this morning, the roadway on Erie Shore Drive was damaged.  Erie Shore Drive is now closed to traffic until further notice," the LTVCA said in a news release. "Only residents and essential services should be in the area.  All others should respect the road closure signs."

The warning is expected to be in effect until Sunday.

Officials are continuing to monitor the situation. In the meantime, they are reminding residents to avoid shorelines and keep children and pets away from the water.
