Fate of Wallaceburg man accused of attempted murder will be decided by jury

An accused 33-year-old Wallaceburg man is depending on a group of his peers to decided whether or not he walks a free man, the Superior Court of Justice heard on Tuesday.

Roughly two hours after the case was originally scheduled to be spoken to, the court heard Michael Authier will appear in court on July 12, 2019, to set a date for a judicial pre-trial.

Authier was arrested and charged with attempted murder after an incident at a Wallaceburg home on February 26 that left an 18-year-old woman with non-life threatening injuries. Authier was released on bail on March 14 for the attempted murder charge.

After new charges, however, he was arrested on June 1 for crimes related to drugs and breaching his release conditions.

Authier remains in custody.
