Chatham cyclist dies after late night crash involving transport truck

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they investigate a crash that claimed the life of a 38-year-old Chatham man.

Police said it is believed the man was riding a bicycle westbound on Grand Avenue East in Chatham just before midnight Sunday night when he was hit by a transport truck that was also travelling in the same direction.

Officers said the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
