Railway repairs coming to Bothwell

Residents in Bothwell may have to change their driving routines this week but it's so that work can be done at a couple of CN Rail crossings.

A municipal closures update states that Peter Street South between MacEwan Street and George Street East will be closed for two days at the CN railway crossing. Local traffic will be allowed to use the road up to the worksite. The full rehabilitation project is expected to start Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and the road should reopen to traffic by 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

The recommended detour route during the closure is MacEwan Street – Zone Road 9 – George Street East.

Railway repairs will then move down to West Bothwell Road Thursday morning.

Municipal officials said a section of the roadway between Longwoods Road and Zone Centre Line will be closed from Thursday morning at 7 a.m. until Friday evening at 7 p.m.

The recommended detour route for that closure is Longwoods Road – Peter Road – George Street in Bothwell – Main Street – Elm Street. Northbound traffic will be directed north on Main Street to Main Line.
