If you're picking out outfits for the first week back to school for yourself or your child, prepare for a mixed bag of weather.
According to Mark Schuster, senior meteorologist with Environment Canada, the first day of school on Tuesday is shaping up to be clear and mild.
"For the first day of school, the weather across Southwestern Ontario should be quite nice," he said. "Day time highs expected to be in the upper 20s and it'll be somewhat humid...humidex values may be getting into the mid-30s."
Because of a low-pressure system in the forecast, conditions are favourable for some rain and storms that day, but according to Schuster, as of right now, the showers are more likely to come in the evening.
"Given that Tuesday's still a few days away, there is a potential for that to change," Schuster explained. "But at this point, it looks like Tuesday should be a nice warm day."
When it comes down to what to wear, you'll want to keep in mind that Schuster said with humidex values well in the 30s, there may be points during the day where the heat will start to feel a little uncomfortable.
Although the first day of school will still feel very much like summer, Schuster said that won't be the case for long.
"With the passage of that system Tuesday night and into Wednesday, it looks like much cooler air is going to move in for the second half of the school week," he explained." By Wednesday and into Thursday it looks like daytime highs will be closer to the low 20s....so it will feel more fall-like as we head into the second half of the school week."
