The warning was issued late Sunday morning. Erie Shore Drive is now closed to traffic and people are being asked to avoid the area is possible.

A strong wind warning remains in effect for Lake Erie and according to a press release by the LTVCA, these winds are to blame for flooding situation.

"The strong southwest winds that have been causing flooding along Erie Shore Drive overnight and this morning are forecasted to continue throughout the day and to last into the late evening," the LTVCA said in the release. "Some forecasts suggest wind speeds could increase this afternoon worsening the situation."

Residents are asked to take caution and avoid shorelines during these conditions.

Officials will continue to monitor the situation and update the advisory if necessary.
