Suspect connected to storage unit break-ins

Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest after four storage units were broken into at a secure compound in Wallaceburg earlier this month.

Police said they were able to identify a suspect in connection with the case and an officer on general patrol saw him in a field near Lowe Avenue Wednesday night.

Investigators said as the officer approached the suspect, he took off running. The chase continued through a bush area and into an open field before the man was arrested near Gillard Street.

A 26-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with four counts of break and enter and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic assault arrest in Wallaceburg

A 35-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with two counts of assault in connection with a recent domestic violence investigation.

Police said they arrested him after they received information that a verbal argument between a man and a woman in Wallaceburg Wednesday morning escalated to a physical altercation.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting complaint leads to arrest, charges

A 22-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with the law again after she was allegedly caught shoplifting.

Police said they arrested him while responding to a shoplifting complaint at Canadian Tire in Chatham Wednesday afternoon.

Officers said their investigation showed that in addition to allegedly shoplifting, the man was also breaching one of his previously imposed release conditions.

The accused was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to comply with his release conditions. He was later released from custody pending a future court date.

Multiple arrests on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police have rounded up another three suspects who were wanted for a variety of offences locally.

A 49-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for property-related offences, break-and-enter, breaching his release conditions, and failing to attend fingerprinting and court appointments was the first one in cuffs. He was arrested on King Street in Chatham Wednesday morning and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

The second arrest involved a short foot chase Wednesday night.

Officers said an officer on general patrol spotted a wanted man riding a bicycle on Bruce Street. The accused was wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart, breaching his probation, and failing to attend court.

Police said the man jumped off of his bike when he saw the cruiser and took off running, but he was arrested a short time later. A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

The third arrest also took place Wednesday night.

Police said officers they arrested a 25-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for some property-related offences and failing to attend court after receiving a tip about where they could find her.

She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
