A 53-year-old-man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a bank in downtown Chatham.
Scotiabank, located on King Street West, has a notice posted on the inside front door stating it was robbed and there is a police investigation underway.
Police said the accused went into the bank on Friday and demanded a sum of money before leaving the area with a quantity of cash. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect shortly after.
Officers said no injuries were reported during the incident. There's no word on if a weapon was used during the bank robbery. The police investigation is ongoing.
As of Friday afternoon, several employees were still inside the bank but did not speak to reporters.
The name of the alleged bank robber has not been released.
