Man charged with assault

A heated argument has turned into charges for a Leamington man.

According to police, it all started around 8 p.m. Saturday when the man and a woman he knew got into an argument inside a residence in Blenheim.

The argument became physical when the man allegedly pushed the woman against a wall, grabbed her by the throat and hit her.

Police were called and through further investigation, officers learned of a previous incident where the man had threatened to kill the woman.

No physical injuries were reported.

The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with uttering threats and three counts of assault. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Public intoxication leads to arrest

A night of drinking turned into a night with police for one local man.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday police located the 28-year-old Wallaceburg man on Dufferin Avenue.

He was unable to care for himself and therefore, arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The man was transported to CKPS Headquarters where he has been held until sober.
