Maroons clobber Kings 6-2

The Chatham Maroons clobbered the Komoka Kings 6-2 on Saturday.

Chatham's Blake Boudreau kicked off the game with a goal at 9:22 into the first period. AJ Ryan followed up with a power-play goal at 11:24. Boudreau scored his second goal 15:36 into the frame.

Kaleb Tiessen scored 8:28 into the second period. Dario Beljo scored the first goal for the Kings, a power-play goal 16:17 into the frame.

Brett Fisher scored for the Maroons 4:59 into the third period. Carson Noble extended the Maroons lead to five. Jacob Rochford scored for Komoka 13:09 into the frame.

Chatham goalie Kevin Linker saved 26 shots out of 28 shots on net.

Blake Boudreau credits their success during the game to the team's work ethic.

"I felt like everyone worked hard, I felt like everyone did their job. We played in both ends great," he said.

He adds that he is feeling optimistic about the future of the team's success for the rest of the season.

"Things are started to come together. Hopefully, we'll get in the top three by the end of the season and give us a good chance in the playoffs", he said.

The Maroons will face off against the St. Marys Lincolns at the Chatham Memorial Arena on Sunday. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

Boudreau says they're looking forward to another potential win for Sunday night's game.

"We're looking to basically do the same thing and maybe play a little bit better in their defensive zone we'll get everything done", he said.
