A popular event that brings thousands of people to downtown Dresden is putting $3,500 back into the community.
The Downtown Dresden Night Market, which hosts a summer and a Christmas market, has donated to three different local organizations.
A total of $1,500 was donated to the Dresden Legion, $1,500 to the Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre, and $500 to the Dresden Food Bank. Money was also donated to the Dresden BIA to buy cedar roping for beautification efforts during the holiday season.
Sidestreets has been able to raise $6,531 through 50/50 draws during the last three markets.
The Dresden Night Market Teams said every dollar generated at the event has been put back into bringing new entertainment such as a stilt walker in 2018, live music at summer events, a chalk artist in 2019, and an ice carver at the recent Christmas Night Market.
The event is free for visitors to attend and showcases dozens of small businesses and the Dresden downtown core in August and December each year.
The Summer Night Market and Christmas Night Market will be returning in August and December 2020.
